Remember Them With Pride by Larry W. Fish

In the city of Jacksonville, North Carolina, which lies next to the sprawling Camp Lejeune Marine Base and its satellite bases, you feel a sense of pride. Many of the Marines live
in Jacksonville and you notice the worry, the fear, but also the pride of wives and husbands as the Marines go to Iraq or Afghanistan.

Just the other day, as my wife and I were taking a walk around our apartment complex, we stopped and talked to a Marine wife whose husband had been in Afghanistan for several months. She loved talking about her husband and how proud she is of him.

I’ve lived in this city of Jacksonville, for seven years and I’ve never been called “sir” so many times in my life. Many of these Marines show us senior citizens respect and we need to show it in return. The lives of a military family can change in an instant.
